Parent Partnership

We believe that parents are essential partners for us to achieve our collective goals. We view our parents through an asset based lens; they are resourceful, resilient, and aspirational. We aspire to engage in an 11 year partnership, helping parents refine their own goals and expand the resources they have access to during their CSA journey and beyond.

This journey is led by our Irma Rivera Center (IRC), named in honor of our founder’s mother, who instilled in Christina the values of hard work, cultural pride, and thoughtful communication. The IRC Team prides itself in meeting families where they are, and harnessing the strengths and resources of our parents to develop relationships.

Meaningful and lasting relationships with parents are built by engaging in consistent communication, and developing strong relationships with their children.  The Academy works to promote a welcoming environment, and provide  structured and informal engagement opportunities.  We know that these consequential relationships have an impact on student success and engagement.

Parent Advocacy and Education

In addition to empowering families to build relationships with faculty and staff, the Irma Rivera Center provides parents and families access to numerous classes and resources. These include:

Financial literacy
Food security
Housing rights and information
Local, state and federal services
Crisis support
Employment opportunities
Health and wellness services
Legal services.

Our Academy Social Workers partner closely with families to ensure that all of their needs are fulfilled. Research tells us there is a correlation between home and student achievement; through our support and services, we are providing our students with the foundation to succeed.
