On May 3rd, 2024, the Academy was honored with the Frank Broderick Award from Princeton Blairstown for our commitment to service, equity and social justice. Azir Carey's speech was a testament to the transformative power of education, resilience, and community support. Reflecting on his journey from being part of the inaugural cohort at Christina Seix Academy, to his experiences at Princeton Blairstown Center, Carey highlighted the importance of strength, resilience, and the support of his community, especially his mother's unwavering determination. Through anecdotes of his time at PBC camp, Carey eloquently conveyed the profound lessons of communication, trust, and interconnectedness that he learned amidst nature, lessons he has carried into his high school years at St. Andrew’s. As he looks ahead to his future, Carey is committed to using his voice and skills to serve his community, recognizing the profound impact positive communication can have in effecting change. Azir deservedly received a standing ovation for his incredible speech and we couldn’t be more proud!
