The Academy has always valued health education classes. It is essential that students understand their bodies and, as they get older, topics like sex, drug and alcohol use, and healthy relationships. We continued this education with our alum this summer as they enter their 1st or 2nd year of high school.
This seminar took place on August 17, 2022. Alum entering the 9th and 10th grades participated in the discussion by grade level.
Planned Parenthood visited the Academy and hosted sessions with our 9th and 10th graders by grade level. With our alum, we defined safe sex and learned how contraceptives work. In both sessions, students were able to ask questions and speak openly. Planned Parenthood also spoke about the various services they offer at their facilities including COVID testing and general healthcare exams.
