More Than a School

CSA as a Community

Christina Seix Academy is more than a school; it is a community centered ecosystem that directly challenges the forces driving poverty, which result from systemic barriers that limit upward mobility, power and agency, and a sense of belonging. The CSA community believes all children should have access to an outstanding education, as well as life experiences that prepare them to succeed through college and beyond. Our students have access to great teachers, year-round programming, and co-curricular activities like dance, performing and creative arts, athletics, and extended opportunities to discover and develop their passions.

Meeting Basic Needs

Meeting basic needs is fundamental for long-term mobility. As such, CSA provides food security, stable housing support, wellness and healthcare access, and mental health resources that improve economic stability and allow families to invest in education and career development.

Forging Partnerships

CSA’s team forges partnerships with various health and wellness initiatives, athletic and arts groups, as well as educational and financial institutions to ensure both students and parents can maximize their respective academic and employment opportunities.

Partnerships

Parental engagement and leadership are hallmarks of the CSA experience, and these partnerships help us realize that mission.

All students can succeed in a place where they feel known and cared about. We believe that each child’s cultural complexity and lived experiences add value to who they are as a student and as an individual. We understand that intelligence is multidimensional and experiential, and that students are more likely to learn when they find something interesting. By engaging our students through independent and self-driven inquiry, we strengthen their sense of agency and help them develop confidence in their own voices as agents of change in their communities and the wider world.

CSA prioritizes education, family empowerment, and community.

Our school sees strengths rather than deficits. It celebrates diversity and culture instead of clinging to narrowness and exclusion. Our diverse staff fosters strong connections and serves as role models within the school, but we nurture supportive relationships and strong ties with the local Trenton community as well.

Students develop social capital while at CSA - fostering networks, norms, and trust to enable people to act for mutual benefit. Post-graduation, we maintain access to a strong network of alumni, trustees, advisors, and mentors of our former students who provide career guidance, professional development opportunities, and access to high-impact networks to help our graduates succeed into adulthood.
